Going on a nature scavenger hunt is a great way to spend time outside with your kids. These activities can be educational, encourage creativity, or just have plain fun.

If you think your child needs something to occupy him while outdoors, consider a construction project. These can keep kids occupied for hours and serve as an introduction to wild space.

Leaf Rubbings

You can make a leaf rubbing art with all kinds of leaves. My yard is full of different trees and shrubs so I usually grab some leaves from each. You can also use the leaves from different plants and flowers.

Making A Leaf Collection

  1. Collect many types of leaves. The Fall season is perfect for the most beautiful colors of leaves.
  2. Lay the leaves between sheets of paper.
  3. Lay a heavy stack of books on the paper and press for one week.
  4. Glue the leaves onto sheets of heavy paper for a wonderful collection of leaves that will last a very long time!

If you want, you can do some research and try to identify what kind of tree they came from.

Going on A Nature Hike

Nature walks are an opportunity to relax, take your time, and explore the environment. It’s a great way to ‘unplug,’ observe, and explore nature while enjoying the outdoors. There are endless possibilities to connect with your child by creating positive activities and memories together.
